Position: Intermediate Programmer

The Challenge

Beanstream provides payment and authentication services to more than 6000 merchants across Canada and the US. We manage software and systems in a non-stop environment requiring a high level of development expertise and attention to detail.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Consulting with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements.
  • Writing and maintaining technical and functional specifications.
  • Analyzing and estimating feasibility, costs, time and compatibility with existing applications.
  • Researching and evaluating software to assist in programming or to use as program platforms.
  • Develop software and applications using Java, ASP and VB.
  • Writing documentation to support product maintenance and deployment.

Technical Essentials:

3 years or more experience in:
  • Software development using ASP, VB and/or Java
  • SQL stored procedures and queries
  • COM/DCOM
  • TCP/IP networking and protocals

Technical Assets:

  • Structured database design on SQL Server
  • Programming distributed network/database applications
  • Knowledge of middleware solutions including ASP, COM/DCOM
  • Experience working with non-stop systems

Educational Experience:

  • BS EE, CS, or similar college level diploma
  • Development experience on Windows NT/2000

Other Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation
  • Persuasive and able to evaluate alternatives
  • Self-directed
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to speak French
